1. Is rheumatoid arthritis an inherited condition ?
It is not hereditary,but the tendency to develop rheumatoid arthritis (RA) may be genetically inherited. Certain genes have been found that increases the risk of RA. The condition affects one in 50 people and is three times more common in women than in men. Sometimes, smoking also appears to increase the risk of developing RA.
2. What causes Rheumatoid Arthritis and how does it affect your everyday life ?
Rheumatoid Arthritis is an auto immune disorder which means that the immune system attacks the body’s own healthy tissues.The cause for RA is unknown. Even though infectious agents such as virus, bacteria and fungi have long been suspected, none has been proven as the cause. It is also thought to be due to a combination of genetic, environmental and hormonal factors.
