Pain and stiffness that happen in your arm i.e. from shoulder to the fingers is treated as arm pain. Pain can be in one hand or in both the hands and it can be caused due to several underlying factors. Though most of the people commonly experience pain due to injury or due to over usage. But in few cases arm pain can be due to serious underlying health conditions like
Due to cardiovascular or heart problems
Underlying heart problems can lead to pain in left hand. People experience pain in the arm shoulder due to heart condition called Angina which is caused mainly due to low circulation to the heart. People may face pain in one or both the arms due to heart attack, which arise when oxygen supply to the heart stops due to blockage. In a condition like heart attack people experience the pain in arms suddenly. Along with arm pain people may also have few other symptoms like

Fractures or broken bones
When you experience arm pain soon after an injury it can be due to fractures or broken bones. In case of fractures people may also have other symptoms like swelling and numbness.
Strain in muscle
You may damage your muscle or ligaments in an injury. People who strain or sprain may have few other symptoms like pain, swelling, muscle spasms and bruising. Both strain and sprain will heal on their own without any treatment.
Tendinitis or tendonitis
It is a condition where the tendons present in arm or shoulder become inflamed. People feel pain in shoulder or arm tendinitis. Tendonitis is also caused due to injury or over usage.
Rotator cuff injury
It is a group of muscles and tendons in your shoulder which allows it to move and stay in its place. This rotator cuff begins to wear and tear with aging. Over usage can also damage the rotator cuff. Along with arm pain people with rotator cuff injury also have other symptoms like weakness and dull to severe persistent pain.
Carpal tunnel syndrome
It is a condition where nerve in the hand gets pinched or compressed. Over usage or doing same work repeatedly damages the nerve in the hand. This leads to several symptoms like arm pain, tingling, numbness and weakness.
